Continuing Medical Education
The crown jewel of the NMA continuing medical education (CME) program is the NMA Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly, reputed as the nation’s foremost forum on African American health. Be assured that the virtual program will still offer excellent CME sessions that will discuss a variety of medical topics and across multiple specialties. Education sessions will feature a combination of both live webcasts and on-demand virtual content.

The NMA supports and encourages diversity in medicine. The Council on Concerns of Women Physicians (CCWP) was established to address the unique issues, concerns and policies regarding the advancement of women physicians through program implementation and policy development. The CCWP Annual Muriel Petioni, M.D. Award Program has become a highlight event of the NMA Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly. Each year this event is one of the most well attended programs during the convention by both men and women in all medical specialties. Past keynote speakers include: Regina King, Maya Angelou, Phylicia Rashad, Angela Bassett, Dianne Carroll, Patti LaBelle, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Donna Brazile, Dr. Jocelyn Elders, Judy Smith, Anita Hill, Melissa Harris-Perry, and Judge Glenda Hatchett. In addition, the Council recognizes women physicians who through clinical practice, research, community service and activism, strive to eliminate health care disparities, provide people of color with quality health care, and address women’s health and professional issues. Senior Pastor, Christian Unity Baptist Church
The Prayer Breakfast on Sunday, July 18, 2021, from 9:30 am until 11:00 am EST, is designed to invoke the presence of God at the conventions of the National Medical Association (NMA) and the Auxiliary to the National Medical Association (ANMA).
